Summary:

This directory contains the main Inventor assembly which contains examples of new functionality in 2D Sketch, Sheet Metal, Cable & Harness and Alias .dwg import.

-         Set the active project to Samples.ipj.

Sketch:

-         New Sketch Formatting capabilities are shown on Motherboard PCB.ipt.

o       Sketch 36 under Extrusion 35 demonstrates the use of different colors to represent different types of components.

Sheet Metal:

-         New punch tool capabilities are shown on Back Bracket.ipt.

o       Specific punch tools utilize alternate representation sketches and embedded manufacturing information

o       Sheet 2 of the associated drawing file (Back Bracket.idw) shows punch documentation enhancements

-         New multi-edge flange capabilities are shown in Graphic Card Cover.ipt.

o       Interior and exterior contours are selected and controlled within a single flange feature.

o       Automatic corner and mitering is controlled within single flange feature.

Cable & Harness:

-         If you installed into a location other than the default, it will be necessary to edit the harness sub-assemblies and reference the new location of the Cable & Harness Library. To do this, in-place activate each of the harness sub-assemblies and re-point the Library file to <Install Area>\Design Data\Cable&Harness\Cable&HarnessDefaultLibrary.iwl.

-         Personal Computer contains six harness sub-assemblies: Power Supply Harness, Cooling Fan Harness, Processor Fan Harness, Front Panel Harness, HD Ribbon Cable Harness and CD Ribbon Cable Harness.

-         The Power Supply Harness Assembly

o       All of the Electrical Parts exist inside of the harness assembly

o       Virtual Parts have been assigned to the connector pins and segments

o       The segments and wires have been swept using surfaces

o       The wires are created using natural curvature

o       Power Supply Harness.idw is the nailboard drawing associated with this harness assembly

-         The Cooling Fan Harness Assembly

o       The connector exist inside of the harness assembly and the fan outside the harness assembly

o       The segments and wires have been swept using surfaces

o       The wires are created using natural curvature

-         The Processor Fan Harness Assembly

o       The connector exist inside of the harness assembly and the fan outside the harness assembly

o       The segments and wires have been swept using surfaces

o       The wires are created using natural curvature

-         The Front Panel Harness Assembly

o       The connector exist inside of the harness assembly and the front panel outside the harness assembly

o       The segments and wires have been swept using surfaces

o       The wires are created using natural curvature

-         The HD Ribbon Cable Harness Assembly

o       Uses the ribbon cable functionality

o       All of the Electrical Parts exist inside of the harness assembly

o       Ribbon cables automatically use natural curvature

o       A double fold has been place on the ribbon cable

o       This ribbon able demonstrates how to mock up a basic ribbon cable with an intermediate connector

-         The CD Ribbon Cable Assembly

o       Uses the ribbon cable functionality

o       All of the Electrical Parts exist inside of the harness assembly

o       Ribbon cables automatically use natural curvature

o       Two single folds have been place on the ribbon cable

o       This ribbon able demonstrates how to mock up a basic ribbon cable with an intermediate connector

o       CD Ribbon Cable.idw is the nailboard drawing associated with this ribbon cable harness assembly

Alias .dwg Import

-         The second iAssembly member of this sample dataset is an import from an Alias file saved as a .dwg.
